Skill Exchange Programme
FVTRS has partnered with Stromme Foundation (Uganda, East Africa) to implement a skill exchange program. The programme is being supported and financed by FK Norway. Other organizations who are part of the programme include COVOID (Uganda) and SEMA (Tanzania). The aim of the programme is to empower youth through sustainable skills.FVTRS team had attended two orientation and planning meetings held in Uganda. In the first year, we received two youth for skill exchange programme – Mr. Alex (representing COVOID) and Ms. Rachel (representing SEMA). Alex was placed with SCODWES, an NGO based in Sirsi (Karnataka) where he had undergone extensive training on agriculture techniques and practices. Rachel was placed with WWS, an NGO based in Belgaum (Karnataka), where she had undergone training on formation of skill net groups and personnel counselling skills. FVTRS has developed a three year action plan for each of them and accordingly the programme was being organized at and implemented by the host organizations. Similarly, from India FVTRS had sent Mr. Praveen Kumar (representing LAW, Madurai) to Tanzania and Mr. Samsher Alam (representing Pholeen, Jharkhand) to Uganda.
The second phase of skill exchange programme was started in the month of November 2017. FVTRS has received Mr. Emmanuel from Tanzania and Mr. Agoba Robert from Uganda. They are undergoing training and WWS (Belgaum) and SCODWES (Sirsi) respectively. FVTRS also sent Mr. Anthony Amalraj to Tanzania and Mr. Shaik Moulana to Uganda.
The third phase has started from November 2018. We have sent Mr. Mohd Sahood Riaz to COVOID based at Uganda. We have also received Mr. Nice Victor Daudi from SEMA, Tanzania.
Mid term Review
FVTRS has hosted FK Norway’s partners review meeting of India Africa Skill exchange programme in Bangalore from 8th to 10th of May 2018. Organisations such as Stromme Foundation the coordinating partner from Uganda, skill exchange partners such as COVOID from Uganda, SEMA from Tanzania, members from FK Norway and team members from FVTRS had attended this three day meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to take stock of present running project and to plan for the future. Mr. P M Philip welcomed the international delegates and wished them for the success of the workshop. The implementing partners presented the progress of the project. Mr. Agaba and Mr. Emmanuel trainees from East Africa shared their experience. Mr. Samsher Alam one who attended the exchange programme last year too shared his experience. Last year FVTRS started Skill Support Mission primarily focusing on creating and increasing awareness on the need for skill development among various stakeholders, as well as the need of the support of society at large to support skilling of poor and marginalized youth. Every year this campaign was organised by selecting one theme to promote skill training. This year the theme was “JOBS FOR ALL, Get Skilled - Give Skills”. This year the National Level launching of "Skill Support Mission‟ was conducted on 8th June 2019 at Bhopal.

We have developed posters in English, Hindi and Kannada, and have distributed them to our partner organizations. Our partner organizations have in turn begun mobilizing funds through various activities. Thus far, the campaign has enabled the mobilization of resources to the tune of Rs.1,34,191.

The Skill Support Mission (SSM) of FVTRS is doing well. The purpose of SSM is to create awareness on skill training and to mobilise funds for skill training. Partners organised various activities to sensitise people and mobilised funds. 22 Partner organisations contributed 50% of its mobilised funds to FVTRS. We thank the people who contributed generously for building the future of school dropout youth in India.

Skill Support Mission campaign is to create awareness on the need of skilling disadvantaged youth. The strategy is meant to reach out to more number of youth and support Skill India Mission of the Country.
India is one of the fastest growing economy in the world. One of the reasons for this growth is the focus that India is giving for the technological growth. If this has to be supported and sustained, then India needs to have sufficient appropriately skilled people. At present, the focus is on enhancing skill capabilities of Indian work force largely in urban sector.
The demographic transition of India makes it imperative to ensure employment opportunities for more than 12 million youths who is reaching working age annually. It is estimated that during the period of 2005-2012, only 2.7 million net additional jobs were created in the country. To enable employable workforce in the future, the youth need to be equipped with necessary skills and education.
